Christmas Lunch
Wednesday was our annual Christmas lunch and jumper day. It was a wonderful example of what our school is all about with everyone coming together, to eat, to pull crackers, to tell jokes and to enjoy being with each other. The whole school ate in the school hall and the older children did a superb job of looking after our younger children. Huge thanks to Hayley, our cook, and to all the staff who served meals and then cleared the hall and provided extra supervision on the playground.
All of our work on manners and on helping the children to know games to play on the playground was very much in evidence. So many children thanked the staff for their lovely meal, music and celebration. Gracie led most of her class in a game of “Simon Says”; Mrs Amani was watching over some amicable basketball practice and a harmonious game of football was being refereed by Year 6 children. Meanwhile, on the KS1 playground there were children playing with the scoops, balls and catching cups and enjoying a game of “What’s the time Mr Wolf?”
After lunch, our prefects did an amazing job of helping in the hall so that everyone could enjoy watching The Polar Express together. The film’s messages about the importance of believing, the value of friendship, respect for leadership and courage and the beauty of being kind to others seemed perfect to complete our day.
