Religious Education
Through our Religious Education curriculum, pupils are encouraged to reflect on what it means to have a faith and to develop their own spiritual knowledge of Christianity. We help the children learn from all religions, as well as about other religions.
They learn to:
- Listen and respect all opinions.
- Apply Christian values to their own lives.
- Understand and learn about different religions and learn about similarities and differences between these religions.
- Be able to consider increasingly deeper ‘big’ questions and think and reflect on their own spirituality.
This is achieved by following a clear and well-sequenced curriculum in Religious Education, which is comprised of the Emmanuel Project RE resources for all faiths and supplemented by Understanding Christianity resources to deepen children’s understanding of Christianity . The two resources work effectively alongside each other and offer a balanced RE curriculum, which is broadly two-thirds Christian-based.
